Fremont residence
Vertical and lateral slopes made layout and construction more complicated on this very small site. The goal of the design was to create a formal entry, improve access from the driveway, replace an existing wall, provide a space for the family to garden, and still maintain privacy from the street once a twelve foot laurel hedge was removed.
The family wanted a low-maintenance garden with interest, detail, and color to relax in and "potter about" together, which they now do quite happily. Completed in summer 2006, new plantings and an angled pergola provide privacy and interest. Stone stairs, patio, and curved retaining walls create a relaxed, comfortable space for the whole family.
Rock Solid won an Award of Distinction for this garden from the Washington Association of Landscape Professionals.
