The m’illumino retreat is a private guest residence where clients can stay overnight or for extended periods. Due to extensive footings below the 8-foot high wall, plantings on the downslope side of the property had to tolerate potential drainage accumulation over winter. In addition, plantings around the watsu pool had to withstand constant heat and steam.
The pool area was designed to provide ambience and lush surroundings for clientele, while the front courtyard serves as a private garden for retreat guests. Completed in fall 2006, both landscapes provide a peaceful, reflective refuge, even though they are located just feet from a busy Seattle street.
Rock Solid won an Award of Distinction for this garden from the Washington Association of Landscape Professionals.
