The owners of this Craftsman-style home wanted a garden that would maintain the style typical of the period and include a dining patio, lawn, plantings, and dog run. However, the small property had a sloping yard and very limited space.
Completed in spring 2005, the garden includes a stone wall with low columns and corner cutout, providing a level yard and giving the home a sense of belonging on the corner. Refacing existing stairs with stone created a graceful entry more fitting with the home. Drought tolerant plantings, an enclosed stone patio, stepping stone path, dog run, and fence designed to mimic the porch railings add final touches to this beautiful urban garden.
Rock Solid won a Grand Award and an Award of Merit for this garden from the Washington Association of Landscape Professionals.
