Annual

Annual plants complete their entire life cycle in one year and then die out. These plants are good for adding accent color and texture to containers, or as another element in the landscape. Standard examples are geraniums, sweet peas, and sunflowers. Some annuals are also herbs, e.g., basil. Some are plants that do not survive long-term in our specific climate zone, but are planted for seasonal interest and treated as annuals (e.g., heliotrope).
